While Goochland has the reputation of being a wealthy county, there is a great disparity between prosperity and poverty in our community. In a population of approximately 21,000, 1 in 10 Goochland residents suffers from food insecurity, poor health, and unsafe living conditions. Existing resources, including government agencies, are insufficient to meet their needs. No other organization in Goochland provides a safety net for those with immediate food, housing, health, safety and other basic needs. GFCFS helps neighbors in crisis who have no other place to go for assistance.
