Intern and Student Volunteers

GFCFS partners with local universities, colleges and job-training programs to offer placement for students enrolled or having completed courses that require real-life experience. Placement is made through the educational institution (e.g. VCU, ProTrain, University of Richmond, J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, John Tyler Community College), but all intern and student volunteers are required to complete an Volunteer Application for Interns and Students.

  • Clinic volunteers must be at least 18 years old and no longer in high school.
  • Students are asked to commit to 6 months or a semester of volunteering depending on the program.

Internships are offered for:

  • Certified Medical Assistants (upon completion of job-training program)
  • Certified Nurse Assistants (upon completion of job-training program)
  • Dental Hygiene Students (enrolled in Dental Hygiene School)
  • Dental Students (enrolled in Dental School)
  • Public Relations/Marketing/Communications Students (enrolled in college level program)
  • Social Workers (enrolled in BSW or MSW program)

If you are enrolled in a course that requires an internship not listed above, please contact Diane Reale at dreale@GoochlandCares.org to discuss opportunities.

Please note: If you are applying to Dental School and need volunteer hours, please complete the General Volunteer Application and apply for a dental assistant position.
